Lead Carpenter

We are seeking a Lead Carpenter, preferably with 5 years of residential carpentry experience and 5 years of site team management. The Lead Carpenter assists the Site Supervisor to manage and direct the tasks of crew members and subcontractors to ensure efficiency and productivity on site. The Lead Carpenter combines professional carpentry skills with the ability to effectively coordinate all team members and trade partners on the job site, delegating tasks to carpenters as appropriate.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Manage and execute excellent rough and finish carpentry including but not limited to

  • Ability to complete advanced framing, air sealing, and weatherization techniques

  • Apply various types of roofing underlayment and activities (i.e. prep for roofing, flashing, and gutters)

  • Execute all phases of interior/exterior trim

  • Install kitchen cabinets including managing layout and troubleshooting

  • Accurate foundation and framing layout

  • Produce level, plum and square wall, floor, and roof framing

  • Cut and install rough and finished stairs

  • Execute all phases of siding and decking installation

  • Prepare for trade partners as outlined by the Site Supervisor

  • Leadership to ensure that the crew and trade partners work together efficiently toward defined project goals in collaboration with the Site Supervisor

  • Effective and respectful communication skills with crew members, Site Supervisor, and trade partners

  • Initiate solutions for project challenges and maintain high standards; involve the Site Supervisor for additional support when needed

  • Facilitate crew meetings to communicate expectations and answer questions, including accurately tracking time

  • Provide teaching and guidance to Carpenters and Apprentice Carpenters as they work to develop their skills

  • Maintain a clean and safe jobsite, stocked with necessary materials

  • Create material takeoff lists for framing, sheathing, and trim

  • Effective and respectful communication with clients

  • Alert SS or PM about requests for changes

  • Reliable transportation to job sites, approx 1 hour range from base to some sites
