Our Privacy Policy

We really value the trust you place in us. We never, ever sell information to any third party, and you can always you can opt out of HELM communication.

What information we collect through our website

Our website collects "non-personalized" data about how people are using the site, so we can keep improving it. Non-personalized means that data is never connected to you as an individual; we're tracking everyone as a large group so we can see patterns, but we don't know what any one individual is doing. We do that so we can understand whether the site is serving people well — usually by assessing which pages attract the most visitors and hold people's attention the longest.

Squarespace is our web host — meaning they run the computers our website's files are kept on — so they have access to that non-personalized data as well, and use it to improve the services they offer us.

The data we collect includes:

  • Information about what browser, network, and computing device you're using when you visit
  • The "referral source" for your visit — that is, the web page you were on right before you came to our website. Was it a search engine, for example, or a website with a link to ours, or something else? That helps us understand how to reach people who might be interested in our services.
  • The "IP address" of the server your computer connected to when you logged on to the web. That provides a not-very-precise idea of what country or state you're in.
  • And last but not least: How you use our website during your visit, including the things we mentioned earlier: the pages you visit, how long you stay for, whether you go back to the same page multiple times, and things like that. That information is also never connected to you as an individual.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small pieces of code that download to your device when you access our website. (Nearly every website uses them.) For an overview of the kinds of cookies our site uses, click here.

Contact and other web-based forms

When you submit a form on our site, we collect the information you send us, so we can respond to you and meet your needs. We hold this information in three secure places: as a record on Squarespace servers, and in Copper and Zapier (two applications we use for customer relations management). We don't ever share that information with anyone else. Here's what we do with it:

  • Your name: Just so we know what to call you. We like to be friendly.
  • Your email address: This is usually how we'll respond to any requests you have.
  • Your phone number: We may try to call you if we have no luck reaching you by email. We won't contact you by text, unless you ask us to. In most cases, you don't have to give us a phone number.
  • Your company name, web address, street address, and industry: We ask these so we can learn a little bit more about your company to confirm that you're a good fit for HELM, and so we can ask better, more-informed questions when we first connect with you.

In some cases, we'll ask other questions that pertain to a service you're requesting — payment information for a class, for example. In every case, we handle your information with the utmost care.
